Message from Mr. Riordan 8/20/2021`
Lorilee Jordahl

Dear Hawthorne Families,

It has been an exciting first three days! Students have spent time learning the layout of the building, working on relationships, and creating a positive classroom culture that will set everyone up for success for the rest of the school year.

Curriculum Night
Curriculum Night is Tuesday, August 24. Teachers will be presenting twice and the presentation will be the exact same. Classroom teachers will present at 5:30 PM and 6:00 PM. Ms. Schumacher and I will present in the MPR at 5:00 PM, 5:30 PM, 6:00 PM, and 6:30 PM. All four of our presentations will be the same as well. We are spacing them out so we are able to accommodate all families. If you are unable to make it to Curriculum Night, I will be sharing my presentation in my next newsletter.

Lunch Menu
Here is the lunch menu for next week. Students who wish to get lunch need to notify their teacher in the morning when the teacher is taking attendance. Once we know how many students want lunch, we communicate that number to food services and they send that many lunches to Hawthorne. Students do not have the option to choose one item from the lunch menu. If they order lunch, they get all of its components.

We have always hosted a hotdog lunch at the end of August and we will have one this year as well. Our hotdog lunch is going to be on Friday, August 27. This is the one time of year where the lunch buying guidelines do not apply. All students will be eligible to get a slushie even if they bring their own lunch.

Late Arrival
Our first late arrival is Wednesday, August 25. Our late arrival times are dedicated for staff professional development. On late arrival days, students may begin to enter the building at 9:30 AM, and the tardy bell rings at 9:45 AM. All of our lunch times remain the same.

Half day kindergarten follows a different schedule. Morning kindergarten students will arrive at 9:30 AM and leave at 11:55 AM. Afternoon kindergarten begins at 12:55 PM and ends at 3:00 PM. Our late arrival bus schedules are posted on our website.
