The start of the school year has been stressful for many families as parents struggle to balance work with remote and hybrid learning. Staff at the Elmhurst Park District and Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 have been working behind the scenes for weeks to come up with the best solution to help as many families as possible during this tough transition.
Club Ed. is a new program for children K-5 that will offer a convenient, self-directed E-Learning opportunity at various D205 and Park District locations. This program will provide a structured schedule that alternates designated time for self-directed E-Learning and recreational activities including indoor/outdoor games, arts and crafts. Children will be in a group of 15 participants or less in a format that meets all CDC health and safety guidelines. Face coverings will be required at all times except while eating.
Thank you for your patience as the D205 Facilities Department continues to work with ComEd to restore power to several school buildings following Monday’s severe weather. The anticipated date for full restoration of power is by 3 p.m. on Aug. 15, 2020.
The following campuses are still without electricity:
The Main Office at each school will be open and available to complete registration starting on Wednesday, August 5th, during normal school hours. Registration documents and procedures can be found by clicking the following link for Registration Information. For further details, click on the various tabs on the right-hand side under the “Student Registration” tab.
Since sending the survey July 17, people have reached out with requests for additional information to help them determine the best decision for their children. Therefore, we are including two additional pieces of information in this communication, which we hope will be helpful and have extended the deadline for responding to July 31 at 5 p.m. All responses will be considered final at that time, and you will receive an email from D205 confirming your submission after the results have been reviewed.
TruGreen will treat the lawns and athletic fields throughout Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 starting July 28, 2020.
I hope you are safe and staying well amid what can only be described as trying and troubling times. The news of recent days is both disturbing and intolerable. Our District 205 Vision ensures that all students graduate life ready. Life ready graduates in today’s world must embrace tolerance and diversity. Our mission and belief statements articulate our commitment to all students. Today, we reaffirm our vision, mission and beliefs in the wake of the murder of George Floyd which has left the nation hurt, confused, and searching for answers. But, our vision, mission, and beliefs alone will not bring about the changes needed to help our students understand each other or create a culture where colleagues are treated with respect, and where an equitable education is a reality for all of our students regardless of their race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or ability.
