National Walk to School Day is Wednesday, October 4th

Calling all parents/guardians to take part in Hawthorne's celebration of National Walk To School Day. Join us, beginning at 7 am on October 4th, before catching your train to work, dropping your student off at Rec Station, or heading off to errands for the day, to celebrate! We encourage all parents/guardians to walk with their children to school on October 4th (in honor of student wellness and family time together!). At Hawthorne, treat yourself at Courageous Bakery's food truck, which will be parked in the small parking lot adjacent to the playground from 7 - 8:30 and will be selling coffee, juice, donuts, scones and cupcakes. Enjoy some breakfast together on site, or take it on the run with you. The first 25 people to make a purchase at the truck receive a FREE DONUT! A live DJ will be playing music on the playground (which will open by 7:30 am). Even Steven Morley, Mayor of Elmhurst, will join in the fun on the playground! Parents, guardians and students alike are encouraged to proudly wear their favorite Hawthorne spirit wear in celebration. If you are interested in volunteering for a short shift, we would welcome the help. Click here.
