Sunflowers & Milkweed in the Outdoor Classroom

Mrs. Lindstrom and Mrs. Behrend’s 1st and 5th grade classes spent a sunny spring afternoon together in the Outdoor Classroom. They read The Sunflower House by Eve Bunting and planted several varieties of sunflower seeds in the garden.  We look forward to seeing how tall they have grown when school starts again in August!

We encourage you to stop by the Outdoor Classroom over the summer to look for butterflies and enjoy the Illinois native prairie plants in bloom. We are proud that we now have milkweed growing in our garden! Milkweed is very important because it is the only food that monarch caterpillars eat. See if you can spot it!
