Hawthorne Elementary School

Communication between home and school is essential for your child's success. E-mail is a great communication tool for quick questions and contact. I try to check e-mail a few times throughout the day,. That being said, if you have something that needs to be addressed immediately, please make sure you call the office to reach me. Voicemail is another great communication option. I check voicemail each day after school.

Welcome to 2nd Grade!

Welcome to our classroom webpage! This is a very exciting resource that we will use in order to provide important information that connects you to your child's learning experiences. As is the case with technology and education, things are always changing, and our website will always be a work in progress.  As time and resources allow, I will update and add whatever I believe would be helpful in allowing you to better help your child at home. Explore and enjoy!

Google Apps for Education!

We are so excited to begin use of Google Apps for Education in our classroom! This week, we've been working to bring our informational writing into an actual typed-up book! Students are using their Type to Learn skills and are easily able to edit and revise their writing that they've been working on over this past few months. They are so excited.

If your student would like to log in at home and continue writing their informational writing into their Google Doc, they can do so. At this point, the only thing I would like students to work on is this informational writing piece. As students learn more about their Drive, how to share their documents, etc, they will be adding much more into their Drive folders. Right now, however, as we embrace our very first week of using Google Apps in the classroom, I ask that your child work only on their informational writing.

Here is the link to get to Google Apps from home. Your child will also need their individual password for their account.
