Hawthorne School Dance

Does this winter weather have you feeling down? We’ve got the cure!
Please join us as we chase away the winter blues!

Neon Night!
Hawthorne Elementary Annual School Dance
Friday, March 6th 6:00-8:00
Old Gymnasium

Neon colors are encouraged, but not required.

This free, PTA sponsored, event welcomes all Hawthorne students, younger siblings, and parents to join in on the fun. With music provided by DJ Jimmy, we are sure to dance the night away!  Don’t miss out!

Come hungry! Concessions (pizza, hot dogs, chips, treats) and funky neon accessories will be available for purchase. Additional games and activities will be provided in the new gymnasium. Don’t forget your camera to capture a picture while you strike a pose at our neon night photo booth!

Volunteers Needed!  Click here to help out.

Fanny May Candy Sales

Flyers for Fanny May Candy Sales will be coming home this week.  Order forms are due March 6.  Candy will be delivered March 23.  Please see the flyer in the locker section for more details.  Candy sales support York scholarships.

The Yearbook Needs Your Pictures!

The Hawthorne yearbook cover has been selected & is going to print.  Congratulations Bella Swanson for creating the winning "Cool to be Kind" design.  Now we need to fill all the pages in between!

Please send your Hawthorne photos (holiday parties, ice skating party, upcoming Science & Hobby Night, music concerts, etc.) to Susan Smentek at sirensinger@comcast.net as soon as possible!  It's helpful to include the student's name, class and/or grade so we can place them on the correct pages (and we'll know what classes or grades need more photos).

Quick requests & suggestions-
1.  Label the student's name, teacher or grade when possible (it helps us try to get all kids/classes/grades in candid pictures)
2.  Send pictures with best best quality resolution option from newer cell phones or from cameras
3.  Send pictures with groups of students as well as your individual child (we try to avoid multiple pictures of the same single child)
4.  Send your favorite pictures (preferably no "bunny ears", closed eyes, blurry or silly faces- unless they can be cropped out)

More information about submitting yearbook photos is in the PTA locker.  2014-2015 Yearbooks can already be purchased at the PTA Webstore for $14.

Thanks in advance for helping us make this yearbook special for all our Hawthorne students!

Help Finish the Bottle Cap Mosaic!

The PTA Go Green Committee needs more plastic bottle caps to finish the three-panel mosaic that was started last spring during Earth Week. We need these colors: BLUES, GREENS, BROWNS, GRAYS, PURPLES & BLACK from milk jugs, beverage bottles - you name it! Please wash caps thoroughly in warm, soapy water. No nut butter caps please. A collection bin is in the main hallway.
