2018-2019 Room Coordinators Sign-Up Now Open

Getting involved in your child's classroom is an amazing way to enhance both your and their experience at Hawthorne! This year, to adjust to the shift from individual classroom parties to grade level parties, each classroom will have two, not three, Room Coordinators. One Room Coordinator from each grade will act as the Grade Lead, responsible for overseeing the planning of the grade level parties and be the point person for the Hawthorne Happening committee.

Sign-up here. Room Coordinators will be notified on Monday, August 20th. In the case of more volunteers than positions, the PTA Executive Board will do a random selection. Room Coordinators will email out their Classroom Monetary Contribution form on Friday, August 24th. Room Coordinators will introduce themselves and collect contributions at Curriculum Night on Tuesday, August 28th. The Room Coordinator Luncheon will be Wednesday, September 5th 11:25 am - 12:25 pm.

The PTA Delivers!

The Hawthorne PTA delivered $500 in new, and much needed, playground equipment to the school... balls, jump ropes and hula hoops!!!

Morning Drop-Off Procedures

We have nearly 500 children arriving between 8:00 and 8:12 am every morning. The following procedures have been updated to address the traffic and safety issues the communities of Hawthorne, Immaculate Conception and Elmhurst are experiencing. These procedures should be taken seriously, as your child’s safety is our absolute first priority.

Communicate with other Hawthorne families online or through the smartphone app. Loaded with features, such as the auto dial when you click on a phone number, or the auto launching of maps when you click on an address. If you hold down the cell phone number, you will get an option to send a text or call the number (iPhone only). DirectorySpot will even create an email if you click on someone's email address.

The REACH PTA

Was you child just identified for REACH services?  Not sure what this means or how to support your child?  The REACH PTA is a parent group dedicated to supporting gifted and talented programs in District 205 and encouraging higher level educational opportunities for ALL District 205 students.  Our area of focus includes:

  • Providing parent resources for gifted and advanced learners
  • Organizing advocacy at local and national levels
  • Sponsoring and/or promoting academic-based extra-curricular activities that are accessible to all students
  • Collaborating with REACH teachers to provide additional resources and student opportunities.

Hawthorne PTA MIssion

The mission of the Hawthorne PTA is to volunteer in the interest of the children, to encourage understanding and cooperation between parents and teachers, and to promote programs that benefit the success of children’s learning. The Hawthorne PTA supports education through active participation and advocacy.

The Hawthorne Variety Show, taking place on Thursday, March 15th at 6 pm, welcomes diverse talents and acts, from tumbling to tap-dance, pogo-sticks to piano and everything in between. Come and show us what you’ve got. Sign up today!
